What Is The Best Poop Scooper?
Looking for the best poop scooper? Here are the models worth buying, and how to choose one that saves your back.
Pets are cute but the "presents" they leave outside on a daily basis; not so much. The best poop scoopers have a well made design that is easy to maneuver, light in weight, has some sort of antimicrobial protection and work on a variety of surfaces. Poop scoopers eliminate the need to have to bend down to pick up the poop, which is especially for anyone with any type of back and neck problems. One very important feature they should come with in my opinion is that it is non-stick and easy to clean. After all the whole point is for it to make your life easier not to have to constantly scrape out the mess.

Nature's Miracle Jaw Scoop

Best for: All surfaces, even snow
Nature's Miracle Jaw Scoop
Nature's Miracle Jaw scoop is an extremely popular choice among dog owners. It is well made, strong and can scoop the poop from any type of surface, it even works well in snow. To accommodate dogs of all sizes it is available in 2 sizes; medium and jumbo. The medium is 32 inches long and the jumbo is 36 inches. It is designed to be non-stick, but since it isn't lined with a plastic bag, to avoid a messy situation it works best if the poop has had time to dry for a bit, otherwise you'll probably find yourself scraping it off the scooper.
It is very light in weight, but it does take some strength to open and close the jaws. So if picking up after your dog is chore that your child does or if you have any health issues with your hands / wrists, that is something you'll want to take into consideration.
Pros
- Available in 2 sizes; medium and jumbo
- Can be used on all types of surfaces
- Made from non-stick plastic
- Has antimicrobial protection built in
Cons
- Works best once the poop has dried a bit
- Takes some hand strength to open and close

MXF Pooper Scooper, Long Handle Stainless Metal Tray and Rake Set
Best for: Yards with several piles

MXF Pooper Scooper, Long Handle Stainless Metal Tray and Rake Set
A rake and tray set is still one of the fastest ways to clear a yard with several piles. This MXF set has stainless steel handles, an aluminum tray and a solid metal rake, and it weighs about 1.5 pounds all together.
The handles adjust up to 38 inches for the tray and 36.2 inches for the rake, so you can scoop without bending. The heads are coated to resist rust and rinse clean with a hose, and the rake snaps onto the tray for storage. With thousands of strong reviews, it is a great pick for the best poop scooper for big yards.
Pros
- Metal tray and rake
- Adjustable long handles
- Rust resistant coating
- Snaps together for storage
Cons
- Two-handed use
- Handles need assembly

Best for: Large or multiple dogs
Nature's Miracle 2-in-1 Rake N' Spade
Nature's Miracle 2 in 1 Rake and Spade scooper is easy to use, light in weight and helps to speed up the process of cleaning up after your pet. It works on a variety of surfaces including gravel. It has a non-stick, antimicrobial treated surface that is easy to keep clean. It provides the flexibility to easily switch back and forth between a spade and rake that way you can use whichever one works best to clean the surface that your pet left his or her business on.
At 38 inches tall, it has an ideal height to minimize any bending over. The width of the pan is also great. It is around 8 inches, making it wide enough to hold multiple "loads" before having to empty it which is especially helpful if you have large or multiple dogs.
Pros
- Uses odor blocking technology to help stop odors from lingering on the plastic.
- Can be used on all types of surfaces
- Uses non-stick plastic
- 38" inches tall
Cons
- Two pieces to carry around the yard
- Too big to take on walks

Doody Digger Pooper Scooper
Best for: House Pet Help's top pick
Best for: House Pet Help's top pick
Doody Digger Pooper Scooper
In terms of design and how it works the Doody Digger is probably the most unique poop scooper on the market. Unlike other scoopers that use some sort of jaw clamp or rake / pan system, the Doody Digger consists of a long, tube that has a shovel like opening at one end and at the other end has an opening that a plastic bag gets attached to that is used to collect the waste. You simply scoop the poop up with the shovel.
The tip of the scoop is pointed making it easy to insert it under the pile to easily get it into the shovel like opening. Once it's sitting on the base of the shovel all you need to do is tilt it upright. From there gravity takes over and into the bag it goes.
It comes with starter bags, however plastic bags from the grocery store work just as well. It is extremely light weight which is really important considering that you have to tilt it upright to get everything into the bag. The tube is wide enough to handle even the piles that large dogs leave behind. The inside of the tube is designed to prevent anything from sticking to it. However, I don't recommend using it if the poop is really wet because even with it's non-stick surface it will still make a mess that you'll need to clean with a hose. Overall I think this is one of the best poop scoopers money can buy, but just remember to make sure the poop is dry before you scoop.
Pros
- Unique design prevents any contact with poop
- Made with non-stick, recycled plastic
- Includes 5 starter bags (but any plastic grocery story type bag can be used)
- Made in the USA
- Voted by House Pet Help as the best poop scooper
Cons
- Messy with very wet poop
- Long tube takes some storage space

Budhha Dog Complete Poo Pack - Great For Travel!
The Poo Pack is a complete starter kit. In addition to the scooper (which you get can get in pink or blue) it comes with a really cute doggy bone shaped bag holder that is pre-filled with bags, plus an additional roll of bags. It is a lightweight yet sturdy scooper, that works well for any size dog and can be used on all surfaces.
However, the downside of it is it's size. I prefaced this with "great for travel" for a reason. It's small and compact making it an excellent choice to take with you while on the go. But it's too short for everyday scooping. It's 24 inches tall and definitely requires you to bend down. So if you are looking for an everyday scooper that won't make you constantly bend over, this is definitely not for you. While I don't recommend this for everyday use, in my opinion this is the best poop scooper on the market for travel adventures with your dog.
Note (October 2026): This kit is now sold on Amazon as the Bodhi Dog Complete Poo Pack, with the same 24 inch scooper.
Pros
- Available in pink or blue
- Includes doggy bone shaped bag holder
- Bag holder comes pre-filled with bags
- Includes an additional roll of bags
- Light-weight, compact
- Ideal for travel
Cons
- 24 inches tall, so you have to bend
- Too short for everyday yard use

GoGo Stik, The Totally Clean Pooper Scooper
Best for: No-rinse cleanup straight into a bag
Best for: No-rinse cleanup straight into a bag
GoGo Stik, The Totally Clean Pooper Scooper
The GoGo Stik basically looks like a butterfly net except instead of a net at the end of it there is a plastic bag. By scooping poop directly into a plastic bag there isn't anything to clean or rinse after, which sometimes happens when wet poop is collected using other poop scoopers that use a pan to collect the waste. All you have to do is remove the bag and throw it away, making the overall process pretty sanitary. It comes with 10 dootie bags but also works with any plastic grocery shopping bag.
One of the best features about this product is that the length is adjustable. The length of the pole can be set anywhere between 25-35 inches, so you can adjust it to the length that works best with your height. The length of most scoopers are a set size so being able to adjust is a big plus feature wise.
The down side of this product of it is that the scooping process takes some getting used to. Until you get the hang of it and scoop with the right angle you'll find that you end up rolling the poop away instead of actually getting it in the bag. So while I do love how the poop ends up directly in the bag, I think the Doody Digger is much easier to use and provides the same end result of the scooping directly into a plastic bag.
Note (October 2026): Amazon now lists this model as the GoGo Stik Catch-N-Go, a hybrid catcher and scooper.
Pros
- Adjustable length; can be set anywhere between 25-35 inches
- Includes 10 complimentary dootie bags, but also works with plastic grocery bags
- Extremely lightweight
- 3 Year Warranty
Cons
- Takes practice to get the angle right
- Poop can roll away at first

Arm & Hammer Swivel Bin & Rake Pooper Scooper
Best for: Lawns on a budget
Best for: Lawns on a budget
Arm & Hammer Swivel Bin & Rake Pooper Scooper
The Arm & Hammer Swivel Bin & Rake is one of the most popular scoopers on Amazon, with a huge number of reviews. The bin swivels on its handle so it stays level while you rake, which keeps the mess inside instead of tipping out.
It has a 32 inch handle, a plastic rake and two waste bags to line the bin. It is a simple, low cost pick for a grassy backyard, and for many owners it is the best poop scooper for everyday lawn cleanup.
Pros
- Swivel bin stays level as you rake
- Bin can be lined with a bag
- Long 32 inch handles
- Very well reviewed
Cons
- Plastic rake can flex on thick grass
- Bulky to store

DogBuddy Pooper Scooper with Bag Attachment and Leash Clip (Large)
The DogBuddy is a compact scooper that clips onto your leash, so you always have it on a walk. A bag wraps around the scoop, and a roll of bags stores inside the handle.
It picks up from grass or pavement without you touching the mess, and the large size suits medium and big dogs. If you want something small to carry on walks, it is one of the best poop scooper options for on the go.
Pros
- Clips onto a leash
- Holds a roll of bags inside
- Two sizes
- Very well reviewed
Cons
- Needs a new bag for each pickup
- Bag compartment can pop open

The GoGo Stik XP uses the same bag-on-a-ring idea as the original GoGo Stik, so the waste only ever touches the bag. The XP adds an ergonomic handle that is easier on your hand and wrist.
It works with store bags or heavier dootie bags. If you liked the idea of the GoGo Stik but want a more comfortable grip, the XP is worth a look.

- Ergonomic grip
- Works with store bags
Cons
- Same learning curve as the original
